License
How the writing, the tools and the source code on this site may be used.
Last updated: 2026-08-08
Different parts of this site carry different licenses. This page says which is which, in plain language. The binding texts are linked at the bottom.
1. In short
The tools here are free for personal, educational and non-commercial use. You can read the source, learn from it, change it, and pass your changes on, so long as nobody is making money from it and my name stays attached.
Want to use any of it commercially? Write to me and we will sort out a separate license.
2. Articles, images and page content
Licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
Share it, adapt it, for non-commercial purposes. Credit Anas Hannoun with a link back to the site. Whatever you build on it goes out under the same license.
3. Tools and source code
Licensed under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0, with one condition added on top: visible attribution.
Inside that, quite a lot is allowed. Read the source. Run it. Modify it. Build something else out of it. Give copies to other people. The one boundary is commercial use, which these terms do not grant.
The added condition means these are not the stock PolyForm terms. Call them “PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 with an attribution condition”.
4. What visible attribution means
Wherever you publish this software, changed or not, show a credit:
Based on work by Anas Hannoun - anas-ha.com
Or the same sentence in whatever language your interface speaks, linking to the site. Either host works, so a Dutch interface can credit anas-ha.nl.
Put it where someone using the software would come across it. The interface, an about screen, a credits list. A file nobody opens does not count.
5. Commercial use
Neither license above grants it. It is available separately, by written agreement. Mail info@anas-ha.com and say what you have in mind.
6. Third-party libraries and fonts
The tools ship with code and fonts other people wrote. Those keep their own licenses, and those licenses apply to them whatever this page says.
- pdf.js 4.6.82, Apache License 2.0, Mozilla Foundation
- pdf-lib 1.17.1, MIT, Andrew Dillon
- JSZip 3.10.1, dual MIT or GPLv3, used here under MIT
- Fira Code, SIL Open Font License 1.1
Versions and notices: THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md.
7. Name and logo
Neither license covers the name “Anas Hannoun”, the logo, or any other mark. A modified version needs a different name. Using the marks needs written permission first.
8. The binding texts
This page summarises. Where a summary and a license disagree, the license is what counts.
- LICENSE.md, for the software
- LICENSE-CONTENT.md, for the writing and images
- THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md
Those three files are in English on both anas-ha.com and anas-ha.nl, and they are the versions that bind. A translated license describes a license rather than replacing it.
